Huawei the Chinese mobile giant has yet again come up with their new smartphone to India. Yes its the Huawei Y9 a beautiful smartphone under the 16k price point. But can it compete with the competion? Lets find out…
Huawei by its versatile and quality products have become the second most largest manufacturer of mobiles beating the Apple in 2018. The reason for the success was the launch of the Y9 aka Enjoy 9 in China. Now Huawei has decided to try their luck in their most important market “India”.
So, speaking of the Huawei Y9 its a notch follower with a 6.5 inch FHD+ dispaly. On the look the phone looks similar to the zenfone max pro M2 but the noticeably small chin. Well the pixel density is 397 ppi which seems low but the dispaly was vibrant and upto expectation. The phones notch can be hidden by choosing it in the settings. That was a good move as I’m not a big fan of the notch concept. Based on our limited time with the phone I have listed down its review.
ABOUT THE HUAWEI Y9:-
- DISPLAY:- Its infact a vibrant 6.5 inch notch display. Its comfort view mode for enhanced eye protection was a cool feature. Now its present nearly in all the phones in this price range. Huawei offers two display modes :- Normal & Vivid.
- CAMERA:-Camera wise its a dual camera arrangement on both front and backside. It has AI cameras that can recognize 22 different scenes. On the rear it has a 13-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. And on the front it features a 16-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. It has full fledged pro mode, AI image stabilisation, night mode, depth mode, AR stickers, and lots more.
- PERFORMANCE & BATTERY:- Its powered by the Huawei’s own Hisilicon Kirin 710 Processor with 8 cores. Its overall clock speed reaches 2.2 GHZ. It was seen before in the Huawei Nova 3i. It packs a Mali G51 MP4 4 core GPU with GPU turbo boost that can boost upto 60%. But unfortunately we could’nt perform any gaming on the device. And it was buttery smooth in lauching apps with minimal clutter. Performance wise we expect it to be a good phone even for occasional gaming. It holds a good 4000MAh battery back up. But it also has AI battery management that can understand user behaviour to optimize battery.
- SOFTWARE & UI :- Its the UI that lets down the mobile because of the Bloat content. It has EMUI 8.2 on top of Oreo but with lot of bloatware. But we expected Android Pie out of the box. But we do hope it gets Pie soon.
So that’s all for now about the phone. Under this price bracket there are lot of phones with same or better at some aspects. But do stick around for a full hands on review by Our Tech experts to know how worthy it can be when compared to the other budget leaders..
